I am a system administrator for the university of dar es salaam. i manage mail servers, webservers and dns. in Tanzania we still don't have any national network, at least not official ones. tho i always contribute to the mailing list.

We are connected to the internet through STM1 (sea com marine cable). I mostly use linux (CentOS, Red Hat) in my systems. I have worked with cisco devices and ios a lot, so i'm experience with them.

As a systems administrator,the track i'm expecting to pursue will best suit me. i'm facing lots of challenges in this field, especially in mail system, that is why i think i qualify for that track.

I will share the knowldge through training and presentations to all my co-workers. Another thing,is i have specific issues to be addressed, so after the training i believe i will go and apply the knowledge.

when i came back home, i conducted a training and presentations on the matters i have learned there. i even constructed a NOC for the University.

Although there is no direct advancement in country level, but atleast in my institution, there are changes. we are exposed to various technologies which i learned during these kind of workshops, also being a member in afnog/afrinic mailinglists, always updates me of various challenges other people are facing.

As it stands, my organization (the University of Dar es Salaam) has lots of technical challenges, however they have financial difficulties, as they even thinking of reducing number of technical personel in ICT. so it is evedent that they can't pay for the training while they can't even pay salaries for its  staff. That is why i am applying for the sponsorship.
My organization and country will benefit as i shall address those technical issues and also, through the presentations i'm going to give, lot of other people will benefit from the workshop indirectly.
